The Wire, Espinama and Source Give

This circular route goes out of the Station of The Wire of Source Give and passes by good ways, in general signposted (until Espinama: PR- PNPE 24 Ports of Áliva, white-yellow). The route is especially of descent, only at the end, shortly before Source Give expects us a rise empinada without signposting until the source of Fonfría. Beautiful seen from the caseta of antennas above The Wire. Some 300 m behind the station of The Wire go up to the right by the way empinado.

The Beaks of Europe is a training limestone that extends by Asturias, Cantabria and León and in her stand out his heights, in a lot of cases above the 2.500 metres, by the near that they find of the sea Bay of Biscay, as in his more northern point hardly distancian 15 kilometres of the mar.

Geographically the Beaks of Europe find in the line of the Mountain range Cantábrica, although they are considered like an independent unit of this by his more recent training. They occupy a total surface of 64.660 hectares delivered between the three provinces.

The Beaks of Europe are divided in three macizos: the macizo Western or Cornión, the macizo Central or of the Urrieles, and the macizo Oriental or of Ándara. The main heights find in the macizo of the Urrieles, that goes through to be the more agreste of the three, as fourteen of his peaks surpass the 2.600 m of altitude, with the Tower of Cerredo, of 2.650 m, like ceiling of these mountains and third maximum of all the Iberian Peninsula, after Sierra Nevada and the Pyrenees. Another mountain that forms part of this macizo is the Naranjo of Bulnes or Picu Urriellu, of big historical importance in the Spanish mountaineering. It was conquered for the first time in 1905 by Pedro Pidal, Marquis of Villaviciosa.

In the macizo Western or Cornión, called like this by the form of horn that offers his silhouette when being avistado from the west, stands out the Saint Crag, that with his 2.596 metres of altitude surpasses in 110 to the following peak of this macizo, the Tower of Santa María or Saint Tower of Enol. By these two mountains, the Saint Crag and the Saint Tower, this macizo knows likewise like the one of the Saint Crags.

The macizo Oriental, also called of Ándara for being in him the circus of the same name, is the most modest of the three, so much in heights (his ceiling, the Morra of Lechugales, achieves the 2.444 m of altitude) as in verticalidades.
