The zone, rough and solitary, contrasts with the noisy environment and bustled of the surroundings of the monastery of Montserrat, the more concurrido of Catalonia. The saw, declared Natural Park in 1987 and managed by the Government of Catalonia, of ten kilometres of length and of singular appearance, is situated to horse between the regions of Anoia, Baix Llobregat and the Bages.

The serralada of Montserrat is a macizo calcareous of singular forms that raises west of the river Llobregat to 1.236 metres of altitude. The highest point is the beak of Sant Jeroni. In 1987 it was declared natural park.

During millenniums, the tectonic movements, the climatic changes and the erosion have moldeado a brusque relief, with big walls and blocks rounded of conglomerate of rock and clay. In the interior the physical agents have opened torrents and caves.
