Ravine of the Centenarian or Zucaina

One of the most spectacular places of this zone: small waterfall of water situated in a recoveco of the mountain.

Barranco del Centenario — Ravine of the Centenarian

The Ravine of the Centenarian or Zucaina, will find it near of Zucaina in Castellón. Situated in the region of the High Mijares. The population of Zucaina, is settled in the high of a hoya full of fields of hazels, nogales, almendros and other types of crops and under the skirts of the macizo of Peñagolosa.

The history of Zucaina runs parallel to the one of the moriscos, constituting an example of Arab village of mountain in these earths, and suffering after the expulsion of these in the 1609 a despoblación of which has gone recuperandose little by little, in hard competition with the depopulation that suffer the earths of the interior by the agricultural crisis.

The municipal term has numerous places of singular beauty as they are Santa Ana, The Chorrador of Zucaina, The Crag Villanueva, The Pinewood.

1. Ravine of the Centenarian

One of the most spectacular places of this zone is the known like the Ravine of the Centenarian or chorrador of zucaina. It treats of a small waterfall of water situated in a recoveco of the mountain.

From the Castle of Villamalefa takes the road to Zucaina (CV-190). Once happened the bridge that crosses the river Villahermosa, to few metres to the right remains a curve of the ancient road where can leave the car.

The way goes out of the external part of this curve. It rises by a footpath some metres and in few minutes find us in the small raft of water that forms under the waterfall.

In years very lluviosos the walls fill of moss, the fall of water is impressive… and the reward of the bathroom in summer: ¡A pleasure!
