
Hiking and leisure in Sierra Nevada

The offer of leisure of Sierra Nevada is impressive. In addition to the known station of Ski of Sierra Nevada, exist inuberables activities in this zone (tambien exists another station of cross-country skiing no so known: Port of the Ragua).
Apart from the innumerable footpaths that cross the saw. Some of the but stood out are:
Footpath of the Star: it Is a footpath that discurre beside the banks of the brooks where is born the River Genil, with some impressive sights on the north of the macizo mountainous.
Integral of the 3.000 metres of Sierra Nevada: it Is a route that begins in Jérez of the Marquesado, in the zone north of the macizo, and finishes in Nigüelas, in the west. His name is due to that it goes through almost all the beaks of more than 3.000 metres of height. Although it does not require a big technical capacity, is not recommended for montañistas without experience owing to the exigencias physical of the route.
Route Sulayr: The route Sulayr is a footpath of 340 km of length that circunda Saw Nevada, designed and promocionado by some public institutions, for which have recovered several traditional footpaths and roads pecuarias.
They exist three shelters attended:
Shelter of the Poqueira: to 2.500m of altitude, situated in the confluencia of the rivers Mulhacen and Dry river, in the Hoya of the Peñón Black on the Ravine of the Poqueira. It has a capacity of 87 squares. The nearest populations are Trevélez and Capileira.
Shelter Postero High: to 1.880m of altitude, situated in the Loma of Enmedio, near of the municipality of Jérez of the Marquesado. It has a capacity of 68 squares.
It house Port of the Ragua: to 2.000m of altitude, situated in the road To-337 that communicates the region of the Marquesado of the Zenete with the Alpujarra. It has capacity of 32 squares.
Besides they exist several shelters-vivacs, although some find in bad state: The Carihuela, The Boiler, Rosales, Elorrieta, Crag Split, The cucaracha, The Vadillo, Ravine of the Aceral, The Horse and The Chullo.
Also they exist some natural shelters or caves: Secret Cave, Seven Lagunas and Tunnel of the Weathercock.
Big article on these wonderful routes. The truth is that Sierra Nevada has routes very different and for all the publics, but maybe the one of the Weathercock was the best.
