The Caminito of Rey, a footpath peatonal that visits the natural place of the Desfiladero of the Gaitanes (Ardales) along three kilometres, and that is at present closed by his bad state of conservation, will recover his use like element of tourist attraction so prompt as they finalise the works of rehabilitation. Like this it has announced it this morning the president of the Provincial Deputation of Málaga, Salvador Pendón, during the presentation of the project, that will have a budget of 8,3 millions (funded entirely by the body supramunicipal) and a term of execution of three years, to explain from mediated of 2011, when it expects that it was resolved the contest to award the works.
The Caminito discurrirá in only sense, with entrance by the embalse of Gaitanejo (Ardales) and exit by The Chorro (Álora). The design, realised by Isabel Bestué and Alfonso Bermejo, of the study Engineering 75, poses the conservation and recovery of the values that form part of the industrial heritage, environmental and historical of the walk, with special attention to the hydrological jump of the Chorro. To the time, will conserve the original elements of the Caminito of Rey, with special attention to the respect of his environmental values and his aesthetic decimonónica. Where was not possible to keep the original structure will change by new materials in accordance with the previous, in steel and concrete pressing with vegetal reasons. Finally, it will install a system of illumination very subtle by means of leds (of very low consumption) placed in the zócalo of the barriers of protection, to allow a balizado for the visits noctunas.
Salvador Pendón announced also that the Deputation is negotiating with the Administrator of Rail Infrastructures (Adif) the possibility that the train go back to visit the Desfiladero, as well as to enable also the ancient waystation of the Coscojal. The surroundings will have parkings, lanzaderas from the embalses, a centre of reception of visitors and a small museum of the hydroelectric energy in the region, in the prey of Gaitanejo.
