The Pyrenees from the space

The past 1 January, the small satellite of observation of the Earth, Proba-V, took this photography for the THAT (European Space Agency).
In the image taken the first day of the year, can see the scarce quantity of snow fallen in the Pyrenees. However, in spite of the little quantity of snow, the mountainous chain, sight from the space, does not leave to surprise by his beauty.
The Satellite Proba-V has the mission to photograph, each two days, the vegetation of the planet, his growth, and the possible observable changes in the Earth from the space. The data that collect , will allow that the authorities know when it exists risk to lose some harvest and also allows to see the advance of the desertisation and of the deforestación.
The Satellite in miniature Proba-V, put in orbit on 7 May 2013, put in operation his camera Vegetation 9 days later. Hardly 55 minutes after the despegue, Proba-V was put in a polar orbit heliosíncrona to 820 kilometres of distance of the Earth.
His first photographies were of the French coast and the gulf of Vizcaya. They are images are of big resolution (the image of the Pyrenees has a resolution of 300 metres).
The reduced volume of the Satellite Proba-V -less than a cubic metre- does not prevent him transport the camera Vegetation, a light version and more modern of other cameras that observe the Earth from 1998.
