Of our fellow and blogger Jorge of Phylosoft arrives us this entrance: The longest footpath of the world – The Trans Canada Trail.
For those who do not know it, the longest footpath of the world is in Canada. It treats of the Trans Canada Trail or, in French, Sentier Transcanadien and has a total route of 22.000 km (think that give the turn to the Earth by the equator are something less than 41.000 km) and joins 3 oceanos different: the peaceful, the atlantic and the arctic.
It crosses all and each one of the provinces and territories of which is composed Canada joining near of 1.000 communities and to some 33.000.000 of Canadians.
This is a map of the trail complete, the lines in blue are the aquatic stretches and the green the terrestrial.
This footpath can visit to pié, in bicycle, to horse, with skis or motorbikes of snow and some pieces is necessary to do them in canoa, always depending of the period of the year and of the region by which pass the stage.
I am not able to estimate the necessary time to visit «all» this footpath 1.000 days? Neither to foresee the suitable equipment to do it put that crosses climates and landscapes so varied like forests, rivers, lakes, arctic tundra … by not saying that in function of the station can find us with temperatures between the -40ºC of Alberta in winter to the 35ºC of Toronto in summer.
What if I can ensure seeing some photographies of the footpath is the impressive and varied that it is the landscape and the hard that they have to be some stretches. .
Another of the impressive things, under my point of view, is that the necessary investment to build this way and maintenance obtains through particular donations. For example, you can do a donation for «a metre» of way by 50 CAD (dolares Canadian) and in return obtain a certificate and your name will be inscribed in one of the pavilions that identify it and can find along the route. There are other modalities of contribution (all more expensive).
To know more on this footpath, recommend you visit (in English) The Trans Canada Trail, the web with all the information on the same, routes by regions, photographies and news related, coordinates GPS and a lot of more information.
If you encourage you to realise this wonderful footpath, remember that to go in in Canada will need a visa: the visa or eTA Canada is an electronic permission of trip (Electronic Travel Authorization, eTA) that issues to those who wish to travel to Canada by air. As his name indicates, this permission is electronic and associates to the passport of the traveller. His length is by a period of until 5 years or until the passport expire.
