The thaw in Greenland is increasingly stressed, what in few years could turn into a critical situation by the influence of the global warming.
In the last 25 years of the 20th century could check that the layer of ice in Greenland had kept more or less stable, having years in which it lost a considerable volume but recovering it in the back. Nevertheless, the worry arrives in these moments in which, analysing the last 10 years has been able to check that the decrease has begun to be constant achieving roughly some 10.000 million tonnes of loss every year.
One of the main problems of this so stressed descent is due to the own fusion of the ice, since when going melting raisin to liquid state and this forces that the rest also have a main tendency to disappear.
We do not have to forget that this circumstance is carrying to a rise of the level of the sea, what has to translate in the disappearance of a lot of zones of earth inside in fewer years of what imagine us.
We have proof of this situation thanks to a study published in the magazine Nature Climate Change realised by a team of scientists of the Technical University of Denmark carried out thanks to the stations of GPS distributed by all the zone and that have allowed the analysis of the elevation of the soil.
The result obtained bases in that the ice crushes the rock, and satisfied goes melting registers an elevation from which can calculate of form quite approximated the volume of ice that has disappeared.
From the year 1978 comes analysing this phenomenon with the aim of averiguar the changes of thickness that produce in the near part to the coast, and thanks to them has been able to check that the most unstable zone is the northwest, affecting fundamentally to the known like Zachariae.
In the actuality considers that the layer of ice of Greenland is one of the main managers of the variations that produce related with the level of the sea in all the planet, although expert stand out that fundamentally it has purchased a main representation in these last 20 years, arriving to represent roughly 16%.
Attending to the studies carried out during the last years has been able to ascertain that roughly the level of the sea presents an approximate rise of 3,2 mm every year, and although in principle it do not seem a quantity desorbitada, the true is that little by little it goes doing with a main portion of earth, in addition to that we also have to take into account that the tendency goes in increase, what means that in few years could see rises a lot main.
