Tenerife
Tenerife

Tenerife is a very rugged island and volcanic, whose relief has been esculpido by successive eruptions along the history (the most recent was the one of the Chinyero in 1909). His training began to gestarse deep down oceanic does some 20-50 million years.  After long time of accumulation of materials the birth of the island produced to finals of the Mioceno (Was Tertiary). It does seven million years surfaced the zones of Teno, Anaga and Macizo of Adeje, in which it designates Series Basáltica Ancient or Series I. They constituted in this way three chronological islands and estratigráficamente distinct in the extreme west, east and south of the current Tenerife.

In time more next (200.000 years), begin the eruptions that would raise the Building Hammer Old-Teide in the centre of the island, on the Boiler of The Cañadas. The Beak of the Teide with 3.718 metres on the level of the sea and more than 7.000 on the oceanic bottom, is the most elevated point of the island, of the Spanish territory and of all the earths surfaced of the Atlantic. This volcano, the third bigger of the planet, is by antonomasia the symbol of Tenerife. His central situation, his important dimensions, his silhouette and his landscape nevado, endow it of a singular personality. Already the aborigines considered it place of cult and adoration.

From 1954 the Teide and all the circus of his around (although there was a back extension of his limits), is declared like national Park. Besides, from June of 2007 is incluído, by the UNESCO, inside the spaces Heritage of the Mankind as Very Natural.

The rugged orography isleña and his variety of climates give like result a territory of multiple landscapes and forms, from the National Park of the Teide with his amalgam of colours fruit of the successive volcanic eruptions, until the Cliffs of The Giants with his vertical walls, going through zones semidesérticas with resistant plants to the dryness in the south, or by environments of character merely volcanic as it is the Malpaís of Güímar.

Also it has natural beaches like the one of The Médano with places protected in his surroundings like Red Mountain and Mountain Peeled, valleys with tropical crops and subtropicales, boscosos places of laurisilva in the macizos of Anaga and Teno with deep and escarpados ravines and extensive forests of pines above this last vegetal training.

The island of Tenerife enjoys of an ecological diversity in spite of his reduced surface, that is consequence of some special environmental conditions, since the rugged reigning orography modifies locally the climatic conditions generals, originating an exquisite variety of microclimates. This vast existence of microclimates and, therefore, of natural habitats, does self-evident in the insular vegetation, constituted by a rich flora and varied (1400 species of upper plants), between which stand out numerous Canarian endemisms (200) and Tenerifean (140).

To Tenerife knows it to him internationally like the «Island of the Eternal Spring». The attribution of this climatic denomination produces to a large extent thanks to the winds alisios, whose humidity, mainly, condenses in the zones of medianías north and insular northeast, constituting wide seas of clouds that have preferably between the 600 and 1.800 metres of height.

Another factor that influences in the softness of the climate of the Islands regarding the that by latitude would correspond (Desert of the Sahara), is the cold marine current of Canaries, that cools the temperature of the waters that bathe the coasts and beaches isleñas regarding the environmental. Finally, the own Tenerifean orography also would be necessary to take it into account in this triple of agents commissioned to do reality the previously quoted slogan.
