La Palma is an island of contrasts thanks to his desnivel, that goes from the level of the sea until the 2.426 m of the Roque of the Boys, point more elevated of the island.

In the third north of the Island finds a big depression of origin erosivo that forms the Boiler of Taburiente, declared National Park in 1.954. From the centre of the island until the south, in the called Old Summit, there is a series of volcanos between which find the one of Saint Antonio, the Volcano of San Juan and the Teneguía (last volcanic eruption of Canaries in 1.971).

The island also possesses the Natural Park of Old Summit and the Natural Park of The Snows, as well as a series of entities protected of lower size and degree of protection.

In 1.983, the zone of «The Channel and The Lindens» is declared like Reservation of the biosphere by the UNESCO, that later, in 1.997, expanded to form the «Reservation of the Biosphere of The Lindens». Finally, in 2.002 it extended the reservation to all the island with the denomination of Reservation of the Biosphere of La Palma.

La Palma is one of the Canarian islands with main surface boscosa, being this so much of pines as of laurisilva. Regarding the agriculture, the main crops are the banana of Canaries and the vineyard.
