The Funny is the most unknown and the one who squanders more serenity of the Canary Islands.

The island of The Funny form splits of the archipelago Chinijo -pertaining to Canaries and to the Province of The Palms, together with the islotes of Clear Mountain, Roque east, Roque west and Alegranza. It is northwest of Lancelot, island of which depends administratively and of which separates it an arm of sea known like The River. Also it finds relatively near of the African continental coast.
The Funny possesses some 29 km² in which they find the two only villages of the island: The Caleta of the Tallow (insular capital) and Houses of Pedro Beard. It is the less populated of the eight islands inhabited, his current population is of 660 inhabitants. Except the urban areas of the two cores inhabited, the rest of the island belongs to the Heritage of the State, being his management ascribed to the Autonomous Organism National Parks.
The insular economy is based in the fishing and the tourism. It was conquered in 1402 by the navigator normando Juan of Bethencourt, under the vassalage of Enrique III of Castilla. The island is appointed like one of the «Islands of Canarian» under sovereignty of the realm of Castile and Leon in the Treaty of Alcáçovas (1479).
The island is accessible only from the sea, although it also possesses a heliport situated very near of Caleta of the Tallow. It has a councillor in the city council lanzaroteño of Teguise.

1. Yellow mountain - Beach of the Kitchen


















This footpath is a coastal route that joins Caleta of Tallow with Yellow Mountain, one of the geological trainings but elevated of The Funny.
The footpath goes through beaches of big interest, in which we will be able to enjoy of a good bathroom in his crystalline waters surrounded of a rich vegetation and fauna.
To arrive to The Funny have to take a ship that goes out from Órzola all the days to the 10, 12 and 17 h., expanding the schedule between the 1 of Julio and on 30 September until the 18:30 h.
After arriving to Caleta of Tallow, village of an important activity pesquera, will leave to the South by the sand, to go on down the coast until arriving to Yellow Mountain.
We can have the luck to observe a rich avifauna, composed by seagulls argénteas (Larus cachinnans), pardelas cenicientas (Calonctris diomedea), petreles of Bulwer (Bulweria bulwerii) and other species, in addition to the plants like the balancón (Traganum moquinii) and the salty white (Polycarpea nivea), able to survive in the extreme conditions of the salinity and aridez of this coastal zone.
After 5 kilometres and an hour of walked, arrive to Beach Cooks. A rincón spectacular under the Yellow Mountain of 172 metres of height. Crystalline waters, golden sand, in summary ones of the rincones but magic of all the Canary Islands.
2. Beach of the Shells


















The footpath begins in Caleta of the Tallow, taking the track that carries to The Mareta, in soft promotion during some 1700 metres, until arriving to the flat of The Mareta, between The Mojón and The Needles.
From the crossing of The Mareta can see the examples of aprovechamiento of the terrain in crops and aljibes. In the Flat, ancient ways and Coa into disuse, but even visible while it advances his regeneration, can confuse our route, by have to be it attentive to the signaling and to the geographic references. We have to go down, turning slightly rightwards and afterwards to the left in “a that”, until arriving, in hardly 150 metres, to an ancient track cut by a cord of stones.
We will take the track leftwards for bordear The Needles, leaving this volcanic building to our right, and with the reference of the islote of Clear Mountain at the front.
Left backwards The Mareta, and after a brief rise of 1 Km, the way goes down to the Flat of The Drop of the Livestock, following the main track. This descent offers a panoramic only of Mountain Bermeja, with his characteristic reddish colour and at the end the islotes of Clear Mountain and Alegranza.
We will ignore the way that goes out to the left and that carries to the Muzzle of the Estribas, going on down the main track, that vira slightly to the right. To some 500 m of this crossing will find the aparcabicis of the Drop of the Livestock. From this point will go on down the track until arriving in some 700 metres to the crossing with the track that adentra in the Island in a northeasterly direction and bordea Mountain Bermeja by the interior. We will take this crossing rightwards, following during 1,4 km the track.
In this point incorporates from the way that carries to the beach of The Shells. We follow straight and in hardly a kilometre will arrive again to the sea, very near already of the Beach of the Amber. From this point a senda peatonal carries to Majapalomas. We will go on down the main track, that turns some 90º to the right, and that in some 200 metres arrives to the aparcabicis of the beach of the Amber. The way follows parallel to the beach to the end of this, where it is necessary to turn again 90º to the right to take the track that carries to Pedro Beard and The Mareta.
Along 1,5 Km will find several ways that incorporate to the main, but that we have to avoid following a line more or less north / south until arriving to the crossing that allows to take the variant to Pedro Beard. The main route takes the crossing rightwards, bordeando to half height The Needles. After a brief and pronounced promotion, will follow during something more than 3,5 km between rises and descents until the Flat of The Mareta, where will be able to observe closely the aljibe of The Watered and the cultured plots that saw of far to the start of the day.
Happened the aljibe will take again the way of the left, that is by which begin the route and that goes down to Caleta of the Tallow, offering an only sight with the Bluffs of Famara at the end. The Variant to Pedro Beard allows to visit this core of population. From the crossing of the track that carries to The Mareta, takes the way leftwards that goes down to the mar.
3. Tip of the Poor


















Linear route from Caleta of the Tallow until the Tip of the Poor by the Flat of The Mareta, Flat of the Farmyard and Muzzles of the Careers, that allows to arrive to the base of Yellow Mountain.
The return does by the same way.
The route splits of Caleta of the Tallow, by the exit of the track to The Mareta, in the vicinities of the school. Durante less than 2 km goes up by the track until arriving to the Flat of the Mareta, flanqueado to both sides by the Mountain of the Mojón and The Needles. Zone of interest where observe aljibes, maretas and crops, footprint of the human being like modelador of the landscape and capacity of aprovechamiento of the resources in spite of the exigencias environmental.
In the crossing, has to follow the way that vira leftwards and surrounds the Mountain of the Mojón. To the little will find another important crossing in which it opens a way to the right and that also will have to avoid. Happened the Muzzle of the Dises, the way goes down to the Drop of the Farmyard of parallel form to the coast, between rests of ancient zones of crop in shape of terraces. In the Drop of the Farmyard, the dominant marine currents and the relief, make possible the training of waves very valued between the practitioners of the surf.
Of the track splits a way to Caleta of the Tallow by the Flat of the Farmyard, route no allowed to realise in bicycle. In his inmediaciones will find the aparcabicis of the Flat of the Farmyard. The route follows straight to Tip of the Poor visiting the coast noreste of the Island of parallel form to the coast and surrounds Yellow Mountain. Raisin beside the Saltworks of the coast of Yellow Mountain, where of natural form the salt crystallises in the puddles that create after the high tides, and finalises in the Tip of the Poor, next geographic accident to the Beach of the Kitchen, to which can not access from here.
4. Beach of the French


















Linear route until the Beach of the French of high difficulty because of the terrain, that is very sandy. The return does by the same way.
In his first 280 metres shares traced with which carries to the helisuperficie and to the cemetery. In this point a crossing allows us take the track of the left that carries us to the Bay of the Salty, from where the parallel continuous track to the coast happening beside the Lagunita.
To the little to happen this zone will find the aparcabicis of the Tip of the Horseshoe and, hardly 300 metres further, the one of the Beach of The French, where finalises the way authorised to bicycles.
5. Pedro Beard and Tip of the Probe


















The route splits of the extreme noreste of Caleta of the Tallow and follows of parallel form to the coast, happening in front of a solitary house that remains to the left, in front of the cala of The Bricks. To some 200 m of the edificación the way forks, although the route follows straight. Some 300 metres further is the Caleta of Up, where is frequent to find mariscadores. Almost at the end of this caleta, the way incorporates to another wider that comes of Caleta of the Tallow by the interior.
The route draws a wide curve to the left in the Jable of the Caletas, to continue straight until the Caleta of the Aguardiente, where in the hours of low tide can see a pozo artesiano of where surfaces the water. In his extreme north abandons the widest way to take the deviation that goes out to the right and leave beside the line of coast by the senda marked by stones. To the little happens beside the rests of the Calera of the Caleta of the Aguardiente.
The way goes back to virar leftwards to save the Drop of the Mouse and take direction north to Pedro Beard until it goes back to find with the track that abandoned in the Caleta of the Aguardiente. In less than 300 metres the way narrow and goes back to be bordeado in stone. Here it situates another Calera, the one of the Ravine of the Rabbits. A small cala to the coat of Black Muzzle hides at the end of this ravine.
From here and during some 800 metres, the way does more difficult, as it goes through terrains no very stable beside zones escarpadas, zigzagueando with the coast. Once happened this zone, the way goes back to widen and appears marked with hileras of stones. Shortly before arriving to the aparcabicis can observe , sections of the way, the Aljibe and the Calera of Pedro Beard. In Pedro Beard goes on down the street that goes beside the sea for, in front of the tapia of an ancient installation, leave the main way and take the senda that opens to the right and that aims to the mar.
It continues by the line of coast until arriving to the vicinities of the Bufadero, where the water of the sea goes out with big strength by an orifice in the basalt in the days in which the sea pushes with impetus. The way turns to the left separating of the coast, to incorporate to another wider that comes from Pedro Beard. It takes rightwards, going up a small repecho and doing a that rightwards. During some 700 metres hardly will have references, although the way follows a parallel line to the coast by the interior.
After a chain and a signal, the footpath turns into track. From here the way turns leftwards surrounding the Lomo of the Donkey to incorporate to the main track that comes of the beach of the Amber. Some 300 metres further arrives to a crossing that allows to go down to Pedro Beard by the left. The main route takes the crossing rightwards, winning height quickly to The Needles. In little more than 3,5 km the way arrives to the Flat of The Mareta, where is the aljibe of the Watered. Happened this point, in the main crossing of The Mareta, takes the track leftwards, returning to Caleta of the Tallow.
6. Beach of the Shells - Majapalomas - Pedro Boat


















It begins in Caleta of the Tallow, taking the track that carries to the Flat of the Mareta, between The Mojón and The Needles. From the crossing of The Mareta observe examples of aprovechamiento of the terrain in crops and aljibes. In the Flat has to go down , turning slightly rightwards doing a soft that until arriving, in hardly 150 metres, to the intersection with an ancient track that takes leftwards for bordear The Needles.
The route rises by a practically straight way, leaving this volcanic building to the right. After a brief rise of 1 km, the way goes down to the Flat of The Drop of the Livestock. This descent offers a panoramic only of Mountain Bermeja and the islotes of Clear Mountain, Roque west and Alegranza. Without taking the way that goes out to the left and that carries to the Muzzle of the Estribas, goes on down the main track until arriving to the Drop of the Livestock.
The track continues to Mountain Bermeja until finding a crossing. In this point is born the variant to the beach of the Shells, incredible beach in which extremar the precaución by the strong currents and his orography. The main route follows from the crossing of the variant to the Shells rightwards, by the track that adentra in the island and leaves Mountain Bermeja to the left. The traced is practically straight until arriving again to the sea, very near already of the beach of the Amber. In the crossing of Majapalomas is born a way to the left, no allowed to bicycles, that carries by the variant in hardly 300 metres to the arch of Majapalomas, to the that is not allowed to go up by the risk of collapse.
The main route turns some 90º to the right and arrives in almost 200 metres to the beach of the Amber. The way follows the beach until his extreme east, where turns other 90º to the right. Along 1,5 km follows a line more or less north / south until arriving to the crossing that allows to take the variant to Pedro Beard or follow to Caleta of the Tallow. The main route takes the crossing rightwards, winning height quickly in a strong, although brief rise, to the Muzzles of Pedro Beard and The Needles. In little more than 3,5 km returns to the Flat of The Mareta, where can observe closely the aljibe of the Watered.
Happened this point takes again the way of the left, that is by which began the route, and that goes down to Caleta of the Tallow, offering an only sight with the Bluffs of Famara at the end. The variant to Pedro Beard allows, in little more than a kilometre, visit this core of population, that although it does not have of services for the visitors, offers an only image. From the crossing of the track that carries to The Mareta, takes the way leftwards that goes down until the sea, happening beside the rests of the ancient shelters employed like warehouses.
7. Drop of the Farmyard


















The route splits of Caleta of the Tallow, by the exit of the track to The Mareta, in the vicinities of the school. During some 1,7 km goes up by the track in soft promotion, until arriving to the Flat of the Mareta, flanqueado to both sides by the Mountain of the Mojón and The Needles. In this zone observe aljibes, maretas and crops, footprint of the human being like modelador of the landscape and of his capacity to take advantage of the resources in spite of the hard climatic conditions.
In The Mareta a crossing of ways allows us take other routes of the network. The Route to the Tip of the Poor goes on down the one of the left. To some 500 m of the main crossing of The Mareta the way divides in two. Has to take the track that turns leftwards and that surrounds the Mountain of the Mojón. Happened the Muzzle of the Dises the low way, offering a sight inigualable of the Drop and the Flat of the Farmyard.
The track follows of parallel form to the coast between rests of ancient zones of crop of which only remain the terraces that levelled the soil and retained the scarce humidity. In the Drop of the Farmyard, the dominant marine currents and the underwater relief, form waves very valued for the practice of the surf. From this zone splits the way of return to Caleta of the Tallow that crosses the Flat of the Farmyard in a southeasterly direction, with the Bluffs of Famara at the end. To this way, by which can not circulate bicycles, incorporate some both into disuse that they do not have to take to facilitate his natural regeneration. Along this stretch have some panoramic only of the field dunar stabilised by the vegetation between the Yellow Mountain and The Mojón that advance slowly to the southwest.
The way rises softly in a southwesterly direction to Crag Laja in soft eses, giving some glorious seen on the Flat of the Farmyard, Yellow Mountain and Mountain of the Mojón. Leaving the loma of Crag Laja to our right, the way goes down to Caleta of the Tallow with the impressive Bluffs of Famara at the end. The variant of gone and turn to the Tip of the Poor visits the coast noreste of the Island, called Coast of the Yellow Mountain, prolongando the walk in little more than 6 km.
The route is simple and offers one of the panoramic more spectacular of the Yellow Mountain and the beach of the Kitchen, warmed up under the volcano. This route happens beside what knows like the Saltworks of the Coast of Yellow Mountain, where of natural form the salt crystallises in the puddles that create after the high tides. The variant finalises in the Tip of the Poor, extreme southwest of the island.
