The island of Big Canarian is the third in extension and the second in population of the Canarian archipelago and has been baptised like continent in miniature by the diversity of his climate, his geography, his flora and his fauna.

It has a circular form with a macizo mountainous in the centre. His maximum altitude is the Beak of the Snows with 1.949 metres. They stand out also some natural monuments like the Roque Nublo (1.813 metres) and the Roque Bentayga.

Big Canarian is Reservation of the Biosphere declared by the UNESCO on 29 June 2005 covering 46% of the terrestrial territory and 100.458 have. Of marine zone.

In the island can distinguish two zones or regions:

The Noreste (Neocanaria) of training more recent and where appear some terrains sedimentarios and of underwater training. In this zone find terraces and some volcanic cones like the Mountain of Arucas, the Beak and Boiler of Bandama, as well as other boilers of erosion in the east, in Tenteniguada, Temisas and Tirajana. Also we find in this zone some flat. In this region situate the ravines of Telde, Guayadeque and Tirajana.

In the extreme Noreste finds a small peninsula called The Isleta, joined to the rest of the island by the Isthmus of Guanarteme, with the beaches of The Quarries and The Alcaravaneras situated to his margins.

Southwest (Tamarán). The most ancient part of the island, done that it can ascertain easily by the quantity of ravines that appear. To this region belongs also the centre of the island, where find the maximum altitudes. It stands out on the other hand the macizo of Tamadaba with his cliffs. The Bluff Faneque, situated to few metres of the coast, has an altitude of 1.096 metres on the level of the mar. In this region situate the ravines of the Aldea, Agaete, Arguineguín and Fataga, amongst other. It fits to stand out also the special natural reservation of the Dunes of Maspalomas, one of the tourist zones more important of Canaries, together with attaches it Beach of the English.

Big Canarian possesses 32 Natural Spaces protected, between which stand out the Rural Park of the Nublo, Selva of Doramas, the Ravine of Azuaje, Tamadaba, Pino Santo, Inagua, etc. The roques are volcanic trainings of rocky type that erigen in the landscape. They stand out the Roque Nublo, with 1.813 m of altitude (symbol of the island), the Priest (also known like The Friar), The Frog, The Finger of God, Bentayga, the Roque of Gando, and the Peñón Bermejo. Some beaches of the island are Maspalomas, Beach of the English, beach of The Quarries, Puerto Rico, The Laja, Saint Agustín, etc.
