The High Road 2 finds in the high Dolomitas, and begins in population of Bressanone and finishes in Feltre.
It takes some 10 days in completing it with but of 150 km and a desnivel accumulated total of more than 20.000 metres. The Dolomitas are crossed by different High Roads, the number 2 is one of the most popular by his difficulty and beauty. The High Roads are the equivalent to the GR in Spain.
The Dolomitas are a mountainous chain of Italy that belongs by 80% to the province of Belluno. The Dolomitas were declared like Heritage of the Mankind by the UNESCO in the year 2009, covering a zone of protection of 135.910,9370 has and a zone of respect of 98.511,9340 has.
The region of the Dolomitas, that forms part of the Alpes Oriental, elaborates on a vast zone that goes from the Val Sugana to Val Pusteria and from the valley of the Adige to the Valley of the Piave; it occupies the territory of three provinces (Trento, Bolzano and Belluno) to horse between the Trentino-High Adigio and the Véneto.
The Dolomitas are very different of the rest of the Alpes; his appearance is characterised by very wide valleys covered of forests and meadows from which heave , recortándose vertically by hundreds of metres, the numerous and isolated macizos mountainous. These last are formed in his elder splits by a rock limestone of marine origin called dolomía.
In this region the most spoken language is the language ladino, a tongue retorromance that has developed because of the isolation of the mountainous valleys, although also it speaks Italian and there is a German minority.
The point of start of this treck situates in the upper station of the telecabina of Saint Andrea, designated Valcroce.
Saint Andrea is situated in the municipality of Bresanone that situates to few kilometres of the tourist city of Bolzano. The best way to arrive to Bolzano is via Milan by means of any one of the crowd of trains that join these two points.
Can happen the night in Bolzano, Bresanone or even Saint Andrea before beginning this route. Any one of the three cities presents a good offer of accommodations. Of course a lot but wide in Bolzano.
Until Bresanone can arrive in train. From here it is necessary to take a bus that will carry us in some 20 minutes to the telecabina. These buses go out of the same station of train of Bresanone. When we did it we, in 2011, the bus was the 321 and the frequency of step was of one each hour (specifically to the and 20 of each hour, data of 2011).

In this point the High Road 2 offers us two options: the way of the left directs to a road ferrata with some degree of difficulty (for which will be necessary material of ferrata) and the way that descends to Forcella Forces give Sieles. We take this second way that allows us bordear the ferrata by a way a lot but simple.

From this point avistamos a new valley that bordearemos without losing a lot of height going through the Shelter of Puez (13km, 3:45h, 2445m). This shelter is the perfect point to replace strengths and face the second part of the stage. From the shelter, in ours front, already can see the go through the one who will abandon the valley.
The way follows bordeando the end of the valley until achieving the Forcella of Ciampei (15km, 4:20h, 2366m). From this point go rising to the Step Crespeina (17km, 5h, 2428m). Still it remains us another step that achieve but no reviste any difficulty, is the Step Cir (18kn, 5:20m, 2469).

The High Road 2 continuous just behind the Shelter Frara, in the parking will find the indications of the way 666 that it is the one who will have to take and that also directs to the Ferrata Tridentina. After a first rise the way plans until finding a big pedrera that adentra in an immense crack by where the way begins to go up by a very pronounced slope until arriving to the rocky wall that we will have to sortear with the help of wires and metallic stairs. Although it treats of a very vertical way does not suppose any difficulty.
We achieve the end of this stretch after 3,100km and 1:20h of trek, are in the height 2610m. Now the way descends softly to arrive to the shelter F. Cavazza To the Pisciadú (3,400km, 1:25h, 2.527m).
The way goes back to rise by the slope of the mountain where find again a step instrumented with chains that surpass after 6km, 2:30h. We are in the height 2907m. From the shelter will take the marked way like 627 that llaneando will carry us until the shelter Forcella Pordoi (10km, 3:45h, 2848m). In this point can decide between facing a strong descent of 600 metres or use the ropeway that finds 100 metres but up.
We begin the strong descent by a big pedrera that low zigzagueando until the step Pordoi (12,600km, 4:30h, 2.239m). Here we will find services of all type: bars, hotels, automatic cashiers, etc.

4. Passo Fedaia - Shelter Contrin
Beyond all doubt it is the stage reigns of this treck in which we will achieve the peak of the Dolomitas, Tip Penia and where the way will offer us a road ferrata, the go through the Glacier of the Marmolada and some seen inmejorables on this zone of the Dolomitas.
The Marmolada is the highest mountain of the Dolomitas. The mountain finds around 100 km noreste of Venecia, from where can see in the clear days. It is formed by a creta that goes of west to east. To the south breaks in a sudden way in rugged cliffs, forming a face of rock of several kilometres of long. In the expensive north there is a comparatively flat glacier, the only big glacier in the Dolomitas (the Glacier of the Marmolada, Ghiacciaio della Marmolada).
The crest is composed by several summits, decreciendo in altitude of west to east: Tip Penia (3.343 m), Tip Rocca (3.309 m), Tip Ombretta (3.230 m), Mountain Serauta (3.069 m) and Pizzo Serauta (3.035 m). A ropeway goes until the summit of Tip Rocca. During the period of ski is opened the main route of the Marmolada for the skiers and snowboards, making possible go down esquiando until the valley.
Paul Grohmann did the first ascensión in 1864, by the expensive north. Before the First World War, the border between Italy and Imperio austrohúngaro went through the Marmolada, so that it formed part of the line of the front during this conflict. The Austrian soldiers were quartered in deep tunnels excavated in the expensive north of the glacier, and the Italian soldiers were quartered in the precipicios rocky of the expensive south. Satisfied the glaciers retreat, the rests of the soldiers and his belongings discover occasionally.
We begin this stage taking a curious trace back mechanic that will carry us from the Passo Fedaia until the Shelter Pian Dei Fiacconi situated to 2626 metres. Also we can realise this first ascensión on foot following the way 606 but advise reservations the strengths for the hard stage of today.
We begin the route by a zone of shrinking of the glacier, where can observe in the stones the marks of the erosion produced by the ice. The way begins descending softly until the height 2484 (1km, 30minutes).
Now it begins the ascensión by the morrena until achieving a tongue of the glacier where according to the conditions of the ice will have to use crampones. To the 2,550km the way drives us to a wall instrumented with wires and stairs that will carry us in a short grimpada to the Forcella of the Marmolada (3km, 1:30h, 2896m).
Here we can decide follow the way 606 until the Shelter of Contrin or go up to Tip Penia. The ascensión to this beak realises by road ferrata with a degree of difficulty elevated because of the desnivel to cover, the verticalidad and the ice that can find in some steps.
If finally we decide us for achieving the peak, will situate us again in the glacier to the 4,500km, 3h and 3204 metres of altitude. Now only it remains us follow traces it and surpass the 100 metres that are missing us to achieve the peak (5km, 3:15h, 3309m). From here we have a sight inmejorable and also have a shelter. The descent until the Forcella will realise it by the same way (6,300km, 5h, 2896m).
Once in the Forcella already avistamos the end of the stage of today, the shelter Contrin but before will have to save a strong descent of but 800 metres with a big slope through a big pedrera and that initiates with a short stretch of grapas and wires.
We will arrive to the shelter situated in the height 2016 metres after 16km of course and 6:30h.

5. Shelter Contrin - Passo gave Valleys
We go out of the Shelter Contrin by the way 607 in direction to the Passo of him Cirelle. The footpath happens beside the Malga Contrin and adentra in the forest and zone of pastures. To measure that rise the vegetation disappears to give step to a zone but arid in which we find some neveros. The slope increases in the last stretch before arriving to the collado which achieve after 2,600km of trek (1:45h, 2683m).
From here we see our next destination, the Shelter Fucciade, and the way that will have to follow: a continuous zig zag with a fuertísima pending through an immense pedrera. The bravest can try shorten the descent without following the way.
To measure that descend the pedrera leaves step to some pastures that precede the arrival to the Shelter Fucciade (6km, 3h, 1982m). This shelter is a very pleasant place but also very frecuentado by his vicinity to the Passo gave Saint Pellegrino.
The way turns into a no asphalted track that crosses a zone of small chalets wooden. We have to follow this track that descends very softly until arriving to the road in the Passo gave Saint Pellegrino.
Here we have two options. The first is to follow the footpath 658 that rises 300 metres for afterwards go down other 300 metres until the Passo gave Valleys. The second option goes through to take the funivia that will carry us until the Cabbage Margherita from where will have some expendidas seen and afterwards descend 500 metres to the end of the stage.
We choose this second option. We will arrive to the Funivia Seilbahn Cabbage Margharite (10km, 4h, 1871m) and rise until the collado situated to 2513m. From here only it remains us continue by a pleasant track that descends softly by meadows until achieving the Passo gave Valleys (15km, 5h, 2013m).

6. Passo Gave Valleys - Shelter Pedrotti
The sixth stage is one of the stages but hard of the High Road 2: the desnivel to save, the kilometres and some difficult steps instrumented with chains do of this one of the days but hard of this trek.
We go out of the Passo gave Valleys by the way 751 that begins to win height quickly until arriving to the Forcella of Venegia (1km, 30min, 2212m). From here the footpath begins a hard goes up and drop changing continuously of slope until arriving to the Passo gave Venegiota (3,100km, 1:15m, 2363m).
Now we descend some 100 metres and go through several stretches instrumented with chains. Turn to the ascensión, win height quickly by a rocky zone of big slope until arriving finally to the Shelter of Mulaz (7km, 2:45h, 2560m). This is a good moment pair rest and replace strengths before initiating the strong rise to the Passo of Farangole, the maximum height that we will have to achieve today.
From the shelter take the way 703 that faces a series of zig-zags of strong slope and a pedrera that hampers the advance. The last metres to achieve the step realise through a road ferrata that no precise material. We arrive finally to the Passo gave Farangole after 9,200km of trek (3:30h, 2814m).
We leave the step of the same way that have achieved it, through a step instrumented with wires and grapas. When we arrive at the end of this ferrata have to turn leftwards, leaving a detour to our right, descending by a big pedrera.
At the end of this pedrera the way turns to the right turning into a narrow footpath that discurre by the slope of a mountain winning and losing height continuously and going through several zones instrumented, any of them a so much dangerous. This stretch is a very aerial way and that we have to face with a lot of precaución.
Finally we arrive to the Pian of Cantoni, a big explanada that remembers us to a big course of a dry river (15,500km, 5:30h, 2285m).
Only it remains us face the last rise until the shelter. The footpath desdibuja and have to be slopes of the marks to orient us in this big zone of rocks. We arrive to the Shelter Pedrotti situated to 2578m after 17km and 6:15h.

7. Shelter Pedrotti - Shelter Treviso
When initiating this stage can choose between two alternatives. The shortest is to take the way numbered like 709 in direction to the shelter Treviso. The second option a bit but long but more interesting is to take the way 702 that goes through the shelter Pradidali. This second option in the High Road 2 official and the most recommended.
The way descends quickly with continuous lazadas until arriving to the height 2200 after 2km and 45 minutes of course. After a hundred of metres planning the way, now numbered like 715, begins to rise to the Passo gave Bali. To arrive to the happen a zone instrumented that it will help us to save a very aerial zone but without difficulty. We arrive finally to the Passo gave Bali (4,500km, 1:30h, 2443m) from where divisa the Shelter Pradidali to the that will arrive after a short descent of little but of 100 metres (6km, 1:50h, 2278m).
Moment to replace strengths to face the hard rise to the Passo delle Lede. The way begins of behind the marked shelter like 709. Little by little the slope goes in increase, the way happens to be marked like 711, and initiates a long and hard grimapada of but of 200 metres that will carry us to the Passo delle Dele (7,500km, 3h, 2695m).
To split here begins one of the descents but long of this trek and that will carry us from the height 2700 until the height 1500 in some 3 kilometres. The way descends quickly by a pedrera until arriving to a free shelter, the Vibacco C. Minazio (9,200km, 3:45h, 2292m).
We follow descending and little by little the vegetation begins to win terrain until we arrive to a forest of conifers. We will follow descending until arriving to the river that will cross by a wooden bridge (10,500km, 5h, 1469m).

Telf: 39 0439 62311
8. Shelter Treviso - Passo Cereda
The stage 8 will carry us of the Shelter Treviso to the Passo Cereda. It is a short day so we can begin the day leaving the rucksacks in the shelter and going up by the Road Ferrata of the Canalone whenever we have the suitable material when treating of a very vertical road with steps very exposed. Complete the ferrata will carry us roughly 1:30h.
Already of turn to the shelter initiate the stage of today by the way 718, the same that carries to the road ferrata. The way rises quickly heading to the Forcella d'Oltro (2km, 1:15h, 2279m). From this point the way plans during some three kilometres roughly while we have a seen esplendidas on the valley.
From the kilometre 5 begins the descent to the Passo Cereda: in little more than a kilometre will go down 750m until arriving to a track (7km, 3h, 1450k) and afterwards a road that will carry us to the end of the stage of today, the Step Cereda (9km, 3:30h, 1361m).
It exists an alternative to arrive to the Passo Cereda without need to cross the Passo d'Oltro in case of bad time or if we walk lacking of strength. From the Shelter of Treviso descend to the valley by the way 707, going through the Malga Canali and the Cant of the Gal. From where will take a footpath that will carry us practically in height to the Passo Cereda after 3h of course.

9. Passo Cereda - Shelter of Bòz
The ninth stage initiate it in front of the shelter Passo Cereda. Justo crossing the road takes a secondary road that adentra in the forest. We follow the indicators of the High Road, the road of step to a forest track that goes planning. In a curve of the track see a footpath with the indication to Sagro, that have to take (2km, 30min, 1396m). The footpath ends to the little in another track that take rightwards. To the few metres another footpath sets off for the right marked like 801 and with the indication of footpath very dangerous (3,500km, 55min, 1340m).
We begin to rise following the marks of GR through a forest. Little by little the vegetation gives step to a rockier zone. The footpath begins quickly happening several steps instrumented with chains. The last 300 metres of desnivel the slope is very pronounced and the terrain is composed of loose stones and arenisca that hamper to a large extent the advance. The promotion does of way very slow and is not advisable in case of bad time. Finally we achieve the Forcella Comedón (5km, 2:45h, 2067m).
From this point initiate the descent to our next aim the Vibacco Feltre - Walter Bodo, to the that arrive after happening a rocky zone of big slope (6km, 3:15h, 1930m).

10. Shelter of Boz - Croce d'Aune
The last stage of the High Road 2 is a continuous go up-low, a day that will remember us the days that have left backwards: aerial steps, instrumented, hard rises, pedreras and inmejorables seen.
We go out of the shelter Boz by the footpath 801, that will not abandon in all the day. It initiates like a shady footpath that crosses a forest. Little by little and very softly we go winning height to arrive to the Passo gave Finestra where change of slope (1,800km, 35min; 1766m).
Now the way narrow and descends some metres to go back to rise after happening a very aerial zone, with stairs cut in the rock, precipicios to both sides of the way and some zig-zags very pronounced until we arrive to the height 2040 beside the beak Sasso gave Scarnia (4km, 1:40h). If you still have of sufficient strengths, a way that goes out to the right allows us rise to the summit of this beak after a difficult way.
Our footpath begins to descend with the same decision that rose, until the height 1865m to which arrive after 2:15h and 5,400km of trek. Here we find us a crossing of distinguished ways like Scarniòn.
As it could not be of another way, go back to win height after a long and hard rise for surpassed again the 2000 metres (7,500km, 3h, 2067m). Impressive seen on the Circus of the Devil to a side and the valleys with small populations to the another.
We go on down a comfortable footpath that without leaving the height 2000 will carry us to the Passo Pietena (10,500km, 3:50h, 2094m) from where divisamos the imponente Mountain Pavione and the last collado to surpassed of this stage and of all the High Road 2.
We follow a comfortable footpath that descends some tens of metres for softly would go back to win height until the Passo Him Vette Grandi, where finds the Shelter of the Piaz (13,300km, 4:30h, 1957m).
From the shelter already intuye the long descent that does not remain until our final destination. We go back to take the footpath 801 in direction Croce d'Aune that alternating stretches of footpath with an ancient military track. Finally we go in in a very leafy forest that carried us directly to the small core of houses of Croce d'Aune (18km, 6h, 1050m).
